FALLS CHURCH, VA – September 10, 2019 – For the first time, the Iraqi Children Foundation (#95191) is joining the launch this week of the annual “Combined Federal Campaign” (CFC), the world’s largest employee charitable giving initiative.

US government employees and retirees – civilian, military, and postal – who wish to support Iraq’s orphans and most vulnerable children can sign up here to donate directly from their paycheck.

“I’m very pleased to see that the Iraqi Children Foundation is now included in the CFC,” said former US Ambassador to Iraq and ICF Advisor Ryan C. Crocker.  “Many of us, military and civilian, who served in Iraq know first hand both the promise and the peril Iraqi children face.  All of us should understand that Iraq’s children are its best hope for the future.  If they are able to grow up in relative security with unrestricted access to global knowledge, they will be like no previous generation of Iraqis.  Supporting them is not just the right thing to do.  It is an investment in a better world for us all.”

Donations to ICF support legal protection, education, nutrition, health care and childhood fun for desperately poor orphans, street kids, displaced children and child laborers, like:*

  • Rokaya (13) whose family tried to stop her from getting an education so she could marry

  • Yasseen (11) who had to work because his father, a blacksmith, became disabled

  • Aliaa (9) whose father and stepmother abused her and made her work on the street

  • Ali (17) whose uncle tried to arrange surgery for Ali so he could sell the boy’s kidney

  • Four teenage girl, victims of sex trafficking, who were sold to a massage business for prostitution

The Iraqi Children Foundation intervenes in the lives of children who are vulnerable to abuse, neglect, and exploitation by criminals, traffickers, and extremists.  It is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) charity, and donations – via the CFC or online – are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.  For more information, please visit ICF’s website, Facebook page, or contact Liz McRae at liz@iraqichildren.org
