Seattle Run/Walk Raises $2,000 to Help Orphans and Street Children in Iraq

The June 10 “Run/Walk” organized by Seattle student Jordan Oakes to mobilize support for Iraqi orphans and street children, drew 60 participants and raised an impressive $2,000.

“I have to congratulate Jordan on a job well done,” said Chairman Webb. “In Iraq, $2,000 goes a long way toward helping destitute and traumatized orphans and street children. All of the funds raised by the Run/Walk will go to a special safe haven in Baghdad where these kids get a good meal, tutoring, and opportunities to play and have fun like children here in the US.”

SICF Chairman and Iraq war veteran Jonathan Webb and his wife Ann joined Jordan, her parents, and others from the community for the early morning 3-mile run. Many participants were decked out in special T-shirts that said “Run for Fun, Run for Hope, Run for Change.” Participants included all ages, with one toddler trying to keep up with her father.
