Dignitaries, Veterans, and Iraqi-Americans Sign Up For Saturday, May 9, 5K
April 21, 2015
Among those running in the upcoming “IN THEIR SHOES” 5K to benefit Iraqi children will be Iraq’s distinguished Ambassador to the United States, His Excellency Lukman Faily.
Ambassador Faily will be joined by former US Ambassador to Iraq James Jeffrey, Gold Star Mother Kelly Swanson, veterans of the Iraq war, members of the Iraqi-American community, students, and many others who will run/walk for a day “in the shoes” of some of Iraq’s most vulnerable children – orphans, street children, and those fleeing with their families from ISIS. Funds raised will go for tutoring, food, health care, trauma support, and other loving services for these children.
The 5K is being held at Cameron Run Regional Park, 4001 Eisenhower Avenue, Alexandria, VA 22304. Check-in starts at 8am. The 5K run/walk begins at 9am. Register online at intheirshoesiraq.eventbrite.com The standard registration fee of $25 is reduced to $20 per person for teams or families of 4 or more. The first 300 participants are guaranteed special race shirts featured above. All are invited to stay for Iraqi food and music. Those unable to attend can support the cause by donating at http://sicfiraq.org/wp/donate/ with a notation that it is for the 5K.
The Iraqi Children Foundation extends a very special thank you to our 5K sponsors for helping make a life changing difference for voiceless, vulnerable children in Iraq. One hundred percent of sponsorship donations go directly to help Iraqi children.
