Anti-Trafficking of Children

About the Program

Since October 2020, the Anti-Trafficking Program has been providing legal and psychosocial support to child victims of human trafficking. This includes sex trafficking, labor trafficking, and organ trafficking.

The project provides legal representation to victims of human trafficking through a team of specialized and qualified lawyers and assist the victims in all stages of legal cases. Representation starts from the investigation stage and ends with legal pleading in the trial court, in addition to the legal appeal of judgments. In Iraq, most victims of human trafficking face charges of committing crimes, and are not seen as victims. We are working to change this: this project  aims to strengthen the role of law and enhance the capabilities of legal and law enforcement institutions to properly address human trafficking issues in accordance with international humanitarian standards.

This project also provides psychosocial support to victims of trafficking to reduce psychological and physical harm to victims, and to help them overcome their ordeal. A team of specialized social workers provide support to victims through regular direct meetings with victims.

How you can help:

Thousands of children are in desperate need of help: to escape human trafficking, to access fair representation in court, and to recover from the psychological and physical impact of their ordeal. We also urgently need to hire more lawyers to support the thousands of child victims of trafficking. Any amount helps, please give generously. Want to pay the humble salary for a street lawyer?
